How does lamott use metacognition to explain “Shitty first drafts”? Says he uses multiple drafts, gathers information, fixes them along the way and improves each drafts, and he also take a sentence and goes with it.
What is your writing process? We brainstorm and start writing the ideas on a sheet of paper and we write the essay or paper and revise the mistakes we have made
What is your worst draft? The worst first draft I've ever written was when I was a a senior in high school and I had to write an essay but before I wrote the essay I was with my friends and we had smoked a cannabis cig. When I got home I sat down and there was little bit of misspelled words and it was totally of subject. I do agree with Kelsey Diaz because all the lessons we did we wouldn't need for college.
What is writing objectively vs subjective? The writing objectively is way that is not influence by personal feelings or opinion and subjective is based on or influence by personal feelings, taste or opinions.
What’s the difference between both articles? In shitty first draft he write a draft but his work is all shitty because he doesn’t know how to the correct way. And the other article is diaz she is having trouble to write a draft because no one taught her how to write.

      1. Lamott uses metacognition when she explains that no matter how bad of a writer you are you should never give up, and just continue writing.
      2. Brainstorming, side notes, drafts, must be alone, or have some music playing while doing my work.
      3. When I was smaller, the teacher gave us a topic to write about and I don’t know why I wrote about a whole different topic, and when we had to read it put loud and it was so embarrassing.
      4. Yes, for example in real life I don’t need to know about a persuasive essay etc... Or like teachers said that none of the professors will care and help us out etc.
      5. The difference between both articles is that one taught us how we were misguided in high school, and the other one to never give up.

What does lamott use metacognition to explain “shitty first draft”?
The author wants us to understand the process of revision on the shitty drafts.
    What is your writing process?
Our writing process has to be quiet around us.
    What was your worst draft?
My first college essay for developmental writing.
Do you relate to Kelsey Diaz, that everything you learned in high school was a lie?
Yes high school taught us how to write the 5-paragraph essay but it is a failure in college because we don’t use it or cite the way high school taught us.
What is the difference between both articles?
Diaz talks about high school lies and Lamott talks about drafts.

    Diaz and Lamott Discussion
    • How does Lamott use Metacognition to explain “Shitty First drafts”?
She explains how other writers had a writer’s block at some point during their career. She also explains how you put so much effort during your writing process that people might not see what you’re trying to say.
    • What is your writing process?
Esmer: In my writing process, I just read the article while taking some notes on the side. And after that I just pick some points that I like and go on from there.
Celeste: In my writing process, I read the prompt then start thinking of things that correlate to it. I think of details before writing them down and choosing which points closely relate to what I’m going to say. Then, I write a thesis and go from there.
    • What was your worst writing draft?
Esmer: Probably when I was in high school when my class had to write about Beowulf.
Celeste: Writing a compare and contrast essay between a novel and a movie.

    • Do you relate to Diaz, that everything you learned in high school was a lie?
Esmer: yes, because in all honesty high school didn’t prepare for college.
Celeste: Somewhat because I learned how to do a research essay which helped me during one of my essays in a class in college.

    • What is the difference both articles?
In Lamott’s article, she talked about how authors had a difficult time in trying to figure out what they want to write about while in Diaz’s article, she talked about how high school didn’t prepare its’ students for college.

  4. 1.Where you let it all pour out and then let it romp all over the paper

    -web
    -thinking
-going back and forth looking for ideas

    2.High school
Senior year went out late and started drinking, and indeed up not doing my paper.
    -Alcohol
    -not being prepared

3.Yes, it was all bullshit because I went through the system, and most of the teachers just for the checks. The tests weren’t necessary, but I think the drafts helped me to get an idea how to write my essay.

    4.Subjective- is emotionally person feelings
    Objectively- no feelings
Teachers now a days tend to throw you tons of work just to keep you occupied instead of teaching.

5.Lamott talks about how everyone goes through a process on writing a perfect review
Diaz talks about how high school teaching is different from college

    1. Lamott uses metacognition in this line saying 'you can either type, or kill yourself.'
    2. thinking to myself how i can relate it to either my life or other peoples life.
3.my worst draft i have done was last year when i had a 3 page paper due the next day and i started it an hour before class. it was also my worst paper ever.
    4. not all of it was a lie but yes it is true due to the fact that diaz mentions that in college we dont ever use ' i, we, or us' witch is true.
    5. one talks about how writing was almost a complete lie and the other shows how to use different ways of writing

      * writing can be considered independent of content; writing
consists primarily of syntactic and mechanical concerns; and academic writing
skills can be taught in a one or two introductory general writing skills courses
and transferred easily to other courses.
      - writing is a miss conception of thought.

*Not surprisingly, those impressions focus on syntactic and
mechanical concerns and assume that “writing is writing,” involving “learnonce/write-many”
      basic skills

-different ways to institute an Intro to writing studies course
-the first is that writing cannot be taught independent of content.
-second is the course about the writing instruction can and cannot accomplish, like "teach students to write." the college way.
-third the course respects students by refusing to create double standards or different rules for student writers than for expert writers
-the sum the course does not teach from principles that contravene writing studies research
-shape the field to help students understand the nature of writing and explore their own practices of writing

  8. writing about writing rational and description - subject about writing
the course is about how to understand and think about writing in school and in society
    the course includes
    -researching
    -reading
    -writing arguments
students read writing research, conduct reading and writing auto-ethnographic
identify writing related problems that interest them

-The WPA Outcomes Statement adopted by the Council of Writing Program
Administrators and this program prepare students for academic writhing.
    - writing instruction: rhetorical knowledge; critical thinking, reading, and writing; processes; and knowledge of conventions.
    - In a same fashion asking professor to teacher academic writing begs the question which academic writing what content.
-which academic writing- what content what genre for what activity, context, and audience

A more realistic narrative recognizes that features of good writing vary from one situation to another. These variations depend, for example, on the subject of the writing, its purpose, and the reader’s expectations.
A common writing should contain a “Thesis for the introduction, 3 body's that each present a point that that support the thesis and should end with a logical conclusion.
Instead of teaching us all the same way, why not teach us the way writing work in the world and how the “tool” of writing is used to meditate various activities.

The police arrive at the scene and started asking questions to both drivers. Turns out the driver of the red explorer was texting while driving. the family of four suffered minor injures but they will be OK. As for the other driver is charged for distracted driving.
